I used to fly drones as well! Is there a specific reason you’re looking to get a Part 107 license instead of operating under 44809? If you’re just flying recreationally and don’t plan on making money with your drone, I’d recommend sticking with 44809 and saving your money.

That said, if you’re set on getting a Part 107 license, your best bet is to check out the many online courses available to prep for the exam. PilotInstitute.com offers a course and claims a pass rate in the high 90s.

If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me—I know way too much about drone laws!

Hey! I have my 107 license through a class at my high school. They used a service called Pilot Institute (i have no idea how much it costs) and it has all the content that you need to know. The practice tests on there are almost the same as the real test (with some if the exact questions)

Hope this helps!

To be honest right now I was going to fly recreationally and then maybe later see if I can make some money off of flying drones because I got like this idea to maybe make or do a drone business.

Oh wow for really man I wish my high school had something like that. I’m planning on getting a DJI mini 3 which doesn’t need a license but maybe for future reference when I wanna do professional stuff with it I would need one

I’ve been there too! For now, I’d recommend starting with a quality drone that isn’t too expensive and flying under a recreational 44809 license. If you decide drone flying is something you want to pursue further, you can always upgrade to a higher-end drone or get your Part 107 license later.

The reason I suggest this is that drone gear and licensing can get really expensive. I don’t want you to spend $1,500 upfront only to realize it’s not for you. Instead, start with something solid but budget-friendly. The EXO Drones Cinemaster 2 is a great option for the price, and if you decide to get your Part 107, you can still use it to make money. Keep in mind that just taking the test (including a practice course) costs around $300.

As tempting as it might be, you don’t need an Inspire 3 as your first drone! Start small, see if you enjoy it, and go from there. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions—I’m happy to help!

Ahh ok I will take your advice. I will PM some questions
