I always struggle when i try to get in the center of the cone during landing, any tips?
Take a look at this tutorial on how to use approach mode for ILS approaches:
For non-ILS approaches - if there are waypoints down the centre of the cone, put them in your flight plan. If there aren’t waypoints - ignore the map and align with the runway by eye.
Do you mean staying aligned, or getting aligned in the first place (the turn)?
Getting aligned
So, I assume you might mean you tend to overshoot or undershoot the intercept course during the turn?
The challenge of course is controlling how fast you turn as you aim to hit that intercept line, so you can roll out on the line at the right heading.
Two things I’d suggest while you gradually internalize the timing:
1)keeping your approach angle shallow (like less than half of a right angle), so that you are closer to being aligned than not as you near the approach line.
2)Starting your turn early enough that you can ease into a somewhat shallower bank angle. This slows down the intercept action giving you more time to observe how changes in bank angle quicken or slow how fast you’re turning.
And finally, just practice the above a lot until your set ups and bank angle changes become automatic. At that point, higher angle turns should become easier too.
Thank you for the tips
