Strong headwind

when flying out of south korea or japan, i am always disturbed by very strong headwinds, reaching 137kts. what should i do if there is a strong headwind in my flight?

Hey there - Welcome to the Community!

This is normal for that region - its where the North Pacific jetstream is often rather strong.

You could try climbing or descending to a higher/lower altitude in the hope of encountering “less” wind but ultimately you’ll likely still have some form of headwind which you just need to ride out.

In future, using a flight planner such as Simbrief - which is free - can help you anticipate whether you’ll have strong winds during your flight and will give you a relatively accurate of your predicted flight time based on those winds.

thank you for the advice!

interesting, so that’s why flying to that region is faster than flying out of that region, as well as in real life. my flight time from jakarta to seoul is 6hr and the reverse flight is more than 7hr

Windy.com (and their phone apps) can show you winds aloft globally at many altitudes … It can be a very good shortcut to help plan altitude changes for headwind / tailwind management.
