Strange A/P behavior on step climbs

I’m on an iPad mini 6, latest version of iOS.

I was cruising at FL350 in an A380 on a flight to Dubai. While over the Atlantic, my plane was step climbing to FL370, and suddenly I noticed the V/S was 5000 fpm!

Before the flight I’d imported the fpl from simbrief and also used IF Assistant so the plane automatically changes altitudes at specific waypoints. But upon step climbing, A/P basically completely malfunctioned. The plane stalled and I had to fight to manually stabilize the aircraft. Every single time I’d turn on LNAV though
the nose of the plane would shoot back up and make the plane climb at extreme vertical speeds.

Even when manually stabilized using low V/S on A/P, the plane would climb when I would set V/S to -100fpm. Weirdest thing.

So I switched off the FL assignments on IF assistant when I stabilized the aircraft, and this seemed to solve the issue.

The flight carried on smoothly until Dubai but can anyone tell me what happened?? Never seen anything like that on step climbs.

Sorry if this thread is created in the wrong format/category.

The pictures here show the chaos that unfolded while cruising.

This is very interesting behavior, I’ve personally never experienced this cause I don’t use simbrief. perhaps it has something to do with the automation of the flight level changes? It’s best to make all altitude changes manually, That is my two cents.

I dont use simbrief, but I had a similar issue today with the A380 autopilot on approach to Munich
AP VNAV was set to 5000ft at a VS of -800fpm. Once the aircraft reached 5000ft it continued descending past 5000ft for some reason, I only noticed when it was at around 1,000ft AGL
I had to disengage VNAV then the AP completely and hand fly the rest of the approach while descending manually
First time this has ever happened ;-;

Yeah I think I’ll stick with manual FL changes moving forward. I was lucky enough to catch the problem before the plane started falling out of the sky 😮‍💨

This is a bit out of topic but is if assistant free for ascending on way points

VNAV/LNAV seem to have gone rogue on the A380. Think it’s best to set FL and V/S manually to keep things under control.

I don’t think so… I paid but it’s a one time payment and you have everything forever. IF assistant automatically does step climbs for you yes. But apparently it screws up the A380 big time

Irl the a 380 does not have automatic step climb

Yeah I’ll try controlling A/P manually. No auto step climbs.
