Stopping my IF Pro

This is my farewell to the community until I decide to come back.

This post is my personal opinion that will include both positives and negatives that have to do with IF.

I have played Infinite flight for more than a year and have enjoyed my journey going from Level 1 to Level 4. I have flown a decent amount of time and am pretty experienced with the game I’d say. I love this game so much that I even bought a joystick to make my experience much more realistic. I believe that IF is the best mobile flight sim because of its ease of playing multiplayer, the physics, and the enjoyment you can get from doing hours of flying. No one would expect a mobile game to have you so intrigued, but somehow IF really caught my attention, and I applause the devs of this game and its staff for its work.

That being said, the reason why I will be leaving is because of my expectations to this game. I understand it is not easy to develop a game on mobile that can be pretty heavy on devices, but I am firm on my belief that this game has had a very long time to achieve a higher level of quality, which although it is on it’s way, it has not arrived there yet. Infinite Flight has great potential, but it feels like IF is handled at a slow pace. Now I do not know what is being planned behind the scenes that will counter what I believe, but right now my interest to this game has dropped. By now IF should have better and more varied graphics, including more functionality along its several aircrafts, and functionality in its interface. There are many other things I wish this game would fulfill, but that will not happen now.

In conclusion, though I wish that this game could be the most aesthetically pleasing as anyone would want, I understand that it is a process to achieve the expectations of the community. But, this game could definitely have a more efficient progress. Nevertheless, i wish IF the best and I am still looking forward for what is to come.

There is most definitely a process, and it takes quite a bit of time to develop any sort of game/simulator. Especially the attention to detail.

Jazz, I completely understand. I have been on this app for dare I say - since the very beginning in 2011. What tipped IF over the top of X-Plane and other more novel sims, is the aircraft detail and camera angles…number of aircraft types, etc. No one comes close… I am however disappointed with the lack of any development in Military aircraft (imagine a C-5…or B-52, A400, etc.)! And I’m extremely let down by the lack of development with weather (clouds, precip, sector visibility, etc.), as well as the absence of at least some 3D structures away from the airports, cities like NYC, LA, etc. and iconic Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, golden gate, mt. Rushmore, etc.

Absolutely there is process, especially with the A380. That’s a huge bonus, but I still believe that with the years IF has existed for, it has not reached the level of quality it should be at.

I 100% agree with you. The only reason why I keep my subscription is because I do enjoy flight simulators and I don’t want to spend tons of money on a gaming PC, and there is no other good mobile flight sims out there.

I disagree, IF has made a TON of progress over the years and the simulator continues to improve after every update. There is a lot of back end work currently, which can be boring to the consumer, but it is neccesary to release new features. Progress is shown by the 3D buildings we have, new detailed airplanes (A380 prime example), animated jetbridges, functioning GSE… etc

Give it time, trust the process, it’ll all be worth it in the end.

IMO this sim has transformed over the past four years.
I remember before global came out(2017).

Hi, I noticed a month ago you were looking forward to Project Metal. Is your frustration here because the ongoing development is difficult to perceive, so the waiting time becomes a challenge to make sense of?

I assume that when it comes out, all that invisible parallel step-by-step development will look like a sudden step up to the end user, revealing the steady behind the scenes progresss in rather concentrated form(?)

But at the same time there was all this other visible progress, as mention by @Kstate.

My issue is not necessarily the waiting time because I know that development takes time, but rather how ideas or goals of things in IF are taken/developed slowly. Yes of course there’s been development over the last few years because developing the game never stopped, but the introduction to these things feels slow. The community itself feels slow, like a lack of connection with the players. What keeps people entertained is how in IF theres unlimited flights you could do that people enjoy, but there isn’t really anything interesting going on besides the waits for aircraft developments. I wish I could explain it better, but my point is that IF feels slow.

The case here isn’t that I want faster development, but rather more efficient development of the game. I feel like theres been so many years since this game released for there to not be a way higher level of improved scenery, In-game interface, and a catch of attention from other flight simulator players. This game has its potential to be way bigger than it is, but it seems like this statement is taken seriously in a declining matter. Cant come myself to putting it in better wording.

I think the same as you, I remember in 2015 when I met IF, I really liked to watch videos of the simulator, I have always wanted to want to pay for a subscription but for time and money it was not possible, now more than two years ago I had the opportunity I loved it a lot, at that time I was very new but I managed to improve a little, Now that it has been 9 years since I met IF it has made a very big progress, many things are missing but little by little they are being seen in the simulator, through the simulator.

Im sure it’ll be worth it in the end, but in the meantime I rather wait for that moment. There isn’t much that keeps me connected to IF. Once I do get connected because of something interesting then I’ll surely come back. Not necessarily a new aircraft but rather something else that happens such as a revamp to the game, something that just makes my head go kaboom.

It’s hard to put what I feel into words. I do believe in the game’s progress still.

Have you considered working towards something like IFATC to engage with a fresh perspective?

I have a lot to say on this, but not enough time to spit it out. Ill say it in 3 lines(paragraphs) to keep it concise.

  1. We are on mobile devices, accessibility is a vital aspect to this sim’s development

  2. Higher quality scenery costs orders of magnitude higher than the current scenery we have now. Take a look at X-Plane and P3D payware scenery options. Now multiply that cost to scale the entire world. Subscription costs would most definitely go up, significantly… Plus, if you look back when they were in the process of releasing global (including the “new” scenery we enjoy today) they cant just recieve the data and implement it into the sim, its not that simple. They have to manually process each bit of information and ensure it is compatible for all devices the sim supports… im not a dev so i cant explain, but this is what ive seen from philipe posts

  3. The community feeling slow/not being connected is kind of your own fault. There are several VA’s you can apply to and join, and as adit mention IFATC is also a great community to be a part of. There are several events on the community calendar. Even being more active on the forum can lead you to meet new people.

I understand waiting. Im personally stepping back from my annual sub because of life circumstances, and my general lack of use.

Yes I have, but it is not something I’d be able to keep up with.
