Starting a regional VA

Hey folks,

So today, I was inspired to live out a pipe dream I once had with the Vatsim/MSFS community, and that idea was to create a regional virtual airline that served the Midwestern United States (the task is a bit less daunting when you don’t have to worry about repainting aircraft!).

Anyway, I am looking to start a professional regional commuter airline (IndyAir) with Indianapolis Int’l as the hub (KIND), with direct routes to other small airports around the Midwest US that would otherwise only be accessible through connecting flights at larger airports such as O’Hare, Detroit, Cleveland, etc. This means that potential routes might include:

IND CVG
IND EVV
IND CMH
IND GRR
IND SPI
IND STL
IND TYS
IND CHA
IND CLE (used to be served by CommutAir until UAX took the route off their list in around 2013)
IND FWA
IND SDF
IND BNA

The fleet I have in mind would make good use of the Cessna 208 as well as the Q400. I don’t have much use for jets due to the close proximity of these airports to the Indianapolis hub.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in joining in on the development of, please let me know!

All best,

Robert

There’s a regional Va that just got approved. Have you checked out WestSky?

That’s awful impressive. Good model! I’ve got to wonder though, is/will the real world Skywest be ok with that? Time will tell, I suppose.

Thanks. That’s why we changed the name to WestSky.

Regional Virtual Airlines are one of my favorites by far - very unique, and you can get very creative!

There are very few regional VA airlines in this game

Honestly it’s one of the most creative things you can do. Because who doesn’t like a nonstop flight?

Unless, you’re me, of course. I once flew somewhere via IND DTW JFK YQB for $20 more than a single stop trip…

I line the regionals and there concept hence why there’s WestSky. They fly too all the major airports and not major airports for cheaper

Yes not to many Regionals, though we do have Qantaslink and QJet as part of QVG, the main focus is main line.

Make it happen.

… And if possible, Runway 5 is preferential when you’re flying in from the south, provided no strong tailwinds exist.

The main focus is mainline. There’s a lot of subsidiaries like that but no full stand alone regional airline

Sadly can’t do it on my own it looks like (to keep IFVARB happy)… want to join in on the development?

They are my favorites as well! RegiJet and WhiteCaps Air are the two regionals that I am a part of.
