STAR Flight under the Stars @ TE94

Ending off the month of August, I took a visit to Travis County STAR Flight based in Austin, Texas. Medevac and EMS helicopters have always been a passion of mine but I’ve never truly gone out looking for them. Recently I’ve been changing that by photographing the occasionally helicopter operating at my local hospital.

Travis County STAR Flight operates 3 AgustaWestland AW169 helicopters and is one of the three operators of the type in the United States. The helipad is fenced off as expected, and I found a vantage point to view over the fence and capture the single helicopter on the ramp without obstruction when the flight crew of the on-duty helo invited me for photos. Thanks to TCSF for the cool experience :)

These are all shot on my newly acquired Nikon D800E and 2 Nikkor lenses.

Long exposure shots won’t need ISO as it’d be unnecessary grain, you can just adjust the shutter and f-stop to have a properly lit photo. These were all on a tripod fyi.
