While landing at jeddah on expert server i touched down smoothly and yet soon spun out in the a320… what could i be doing wrong…… my speed was 150 kts
Maybe if you were using rudder as your nose gear touched down, that could have made you spin out. I’m not sure how else that could happen tho :/
I may have had slight rudder input
Was there strong crosswind?
Na not much crosswind, i think it might be something related to trim setting and nose gear
Ok. By the way 150 kts is too fast. It should be more like 135 unless you were overweight.
Ahh the speed might have also been a factor then
Yeah… High speed + misaligned nose gear = lots of force on the nose, which is far from the center of mass so it swings the plane around.
Yeah thanks for the tip…. Am fairly new to the sim
No problem. Also, did you try to correct the swerve with an aggressive rudder input in the other direction? Cause at those speeds that might have actually been the cause. And the swerve happened after the nose gear touched down, right?
I did put in a substantial rudder input to counter the spin, obviously to no avail, the swerve happened after the nose wheel touched down. Had to quit due to the sheer embarrasment 😂
Maybe an uncalibrated rudder
150kts is too fast for an A320 to land. If your A320 is light 132kts to 135kts is fine. If it’s heavy then 140kts is fine. When you’re going so fast, any minor correction with the rudder/nose gear only ends up overcomensating.
I like heavier aircraft as they are more stable when landing. I also prefer to use the ILS/APPR when landing. I disengage it at 100-200 feet and that gives me enough time to line up the nose with the centre line using the rudder.
Yeah, the nose wheel has to be completely straight when it touches down.
So if compensating for even a slight crosswind, the rudder control needs to be fully released before the nose makes contact (and then you can steer a bit from that neutralized position).
There also seems to be an effect where you can hold the nose down more firmly vs lightly to help finesse the yaw response during the all wheels down roll.
Ya i realise my speed might have been high… i also love flying heavier widebodies but wanted to try and get used to lighter aircraft
Yeah my nose wheel must have turned after touched down and due to high speed caused the swerve…
I took the same approach….wide bodies first. Then narrow bodies. Aced the wide bodies, as for the narrow bodies all I can say is MISSION FAILED SUCCESSFULLY
I started with the narrowbodies and now I horribly under flare the wide bodies like I’m doing a 777 demo for Ryanair 🤣
😂 if it becomes reality some day….you are assured a job. 😜
