This was originally posted about 3 weeks ago but it was locked due to violating the rule of no more than 10 pictures per post but here is the repost of the flight to Cali, anyways let’s begin!
I woke up at 5am I was very tired but excited, today I was going to Cali, Colombia 🇨🇴 and eventually San Andrés. I haven’t been to Cali or Colombia in general for nearly 8 years and this was going to be my 1st time in San Andrés also. but I left the house and 6am it was an hour long drive to from my home in Palm Beach to Miami Intl Airport and the fact that rush hour is usually around this time didn’t help, we finally reached the Airport at about 8am even though it usually only an hour long drive but we are here now anyways let’s check in and drop off my bag
Origin: Miami Intl ( KMIA )
Destination: Alfonso Bonilla Aragon ( SKCL )
Flight Time: 3:10
Boeing 737-800 ( American Airlines )
Server: Causal
After checking in, security, emigration and stopping by Cafe Versailles to pick up a Cafe con Leche here we are at Gate D44 along with our 737-800 who pulled in after coming in from Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport ( KIAH )
We found our seat which was in main cabin so not the best in comfort but did provide a great wing view :D
We were now airborne, leaving Miami behind us and I could already hear all the music and dances 1,560 miles south of us in Cali
We climbed to FL350, we were served a drink of our choice ( I chose Coke ) along with biscoff cookies and we just sat down and enjoyed the views over Cuba 🇨🇺 and Jamaica 🇯🇲 before we reach the Caribbean coast of Colombia 🇨🇴
Fast forward about 2 hours and 45 minutes into the flight we were now in the valley which was stunning to see 🤩
I’m no expert on where plane crashes happen but I believe this is the mountain that American Airlines Flight 965 crashed into killing almost everybody except 4 people and a dog
I almost cried when I saw this view of the fields below since I haven’t seen them in so long, as we slowed down, and made a u turn to line up with RWY 02 at SKCL
We touched down, and just like most of everybody on the plane I started clapping it’s common for us Colombians ( or hispanics in general ) to clap after landing but after nearly 9 years welcome to Alfonso Bonilla Aragon Intl Airport
We parked at gate D17 in this new International terminal which wasn’t here before but it looks great I can’t believe how much the airport has changed in 9 years it’s almost unrecognizable, we now have to go to passport control which sucked since there were quite a few flight coming in and only 3 agents, bags luckily came out quick and we were out of the airport and off to Cali where I would stay for about 15 hours before heading off to San Andrés but thanks for coming with me :D
