Hi fellow avgeeks,
some of you might not have seen my last spotting topic from a few days ago yet but here I am back with another topic. With fall and bad weather approaching I decided to use this Saturday with an amazing weather forecast predicting up to 25°C for another spotting topic with once again some (unexpected) specials.
Not only did I hunt for some special planes but also for some new spots. While in summer, the evening sun allows to have the airport as a backdrop for shots on the northern runway’s threshold, during normal light conditions this isn’t the best idea to do so I went to the right opposite of the airport to take similar pics for runway 26L arrivals and departures. After quite some time with outbounds only I was kinda relieved when ATC sent the Kuwait A330 I was waiting for to the southern runway resulting in this shot:
However the spot does not only allow for landings but also for departure shots such as this sexy Lufthansa racoon (D-AIXK)
One reason why I went to the airport was this bird operating the morning flight to Dubai. Initially, I planned to take a shot of it banking away after departure like I did on my second last topic but it turned out that there was too much heat haze in that area so here it is rotating instead.
As you can see after three pics already, yesterdays session was a very active one when it comes to position changes. For a special arrival and a few more shots I changed from the southern to the northern runway, where this A380 arrived from LAX as LH453:
Before doing so I came across a surprising movement I’ve been waiting for quite some time already. Most probably don’t know, but the king of Thailand lives in the Bavarian countryside for quite a large share of the year and he also has several of his Boeing 737s based at Munich. I haven’t managed to catch him flying so far though…well until yesterday. I actually don’t know where he was headed to but a friend told me that his father died exactly 2 years ago today so he might have gone back to Thailand on that occasion.
Something colorful and also very new a few minutes later: Already known for their many different adverts on their fleet, SunExpress recently painted a 737 in a “Shaun das Schaf” movie livery.
So you remember I said I had to change to the northern runway for a special? Here it is! While I already got Hekla Aurora and the 100 years independence livery of Icelandair, I still lacked their 80 Years of Aviation livery so I was quite pleased when I discovered it was on the way to Munich during the day.
For the last few pics lets change to the fourth spot of the day which might be a well known perspective for the regular reader ;) I initially didn’t plan to stay very long but in the end I couldn’t resist waiting for this nice new livery on Royal Air Maroc’s Boeing 737.
Long time no see for this bird. Flying to Munich for a year know I caught it a few times in the past already but haven’t done so in quite a while now. Avianca’s Boeing 787 touching down from Bogota.
If I recall correctly some of you really liked the last shot of a Lufthansa A350 from Thursday…so here’s a little bonus shot of another racoon being towed to the maintenance area in the evening sun. This view really never gets old!
I hope you enjoyed these shots once again! Visit my social media accounts listed below for more shots from various airports around Europe if you need to bridge the wait until I post my next topic on here:
