Why KADW?

Home to the world famous Andrew’s Air Force Base Air Show in May, Camp Springs, Maryland is a popular military, mainly Air Force, spot. It’s where the VC-25, the C-40, and the USAF C-32 live. It’s a large cargo hub, home to Prime Air, Atlas Air, and military transport aircraft. It gets little-to-no recognition, but was featured with IFATC this past week. I have decided to do a fly-out/airshow here on July 20, 2019, for just a little fun. NOTAMS will be provided on the day of the event.

The aircraft stationed at ADW are

  • C-20B/D or the Gulfstream III
  • C-21 or Learjet 35/36
  • C-32A or USAF 757-200
  • C-37A or Gulfstream V
  • C-37B or Gulfstream G550
  • C-38 or Gulfstream G100
  • C-40 or USAF 737-700BBJ
  • C-130 Hercules
  • F-16 Fighting Falcon
  • KC-135R or 707-367-80
  • UC-35 or Cessna Citation V
  • Bell UH-1N Twin Huey
  • VC-25 or Air Force One (when the president’s on board)
  • Cessna 182

There are still other aircraft that go to Andrew’s but aren’t stationed there. Those include the C-17, 767-300, 747-400, 777-200ER, and F-18.

I’ll have ACA hangar 1 for the Airshow

And I’ll have Air Force One Hangar 19A in the VC-25 to KPBI, I’ll be taking the president down to Mar-A-Lago 😉

And lastly thank you for creating this event, there’s no way I would’ve done all the research on the gates, so kudos to you 🙏

I would suggest scheduling each aircraft/ group flight flyover for a specific Zulu time. For example, I would suggest having all aircraft depart at a certain time, then hold in a predetermined flight pattern that you set. Aircraft will then leave that pattern at their specific time to approach for the airshow portion. Just trying to help :)

One question… what to do for the show? Is there a schedule? I would love to bring the IFCAS Raptor Demonstration down.

Why not? You can have East Apron A.

If you’d like to try the piercing heart (however illegal in the US) or any demonstration you’re welcome to take whatever gates in the East Apron you need! How many aircraft?

The Raptor Demo is just one Pilot. But the experience can be better if discord is used. That will offer opportunities for soundtrack and announcing.
