MaxSez: I’m getting an over speed warning below 10grand for Speeds in excess of 250k unsure if it was in unrestricted or restricted (Controlled) air space. What are the rules for fighters (No joy in search or tutorials. Your assist pls. Thanks, Max
Which fighter are you in specifically?
@Chris_S… Spit! Max
Oh no. I can only imagine. Supersonic in a Spit.
I believe only fighter jets are allowed to exceed 250 knots under 10k. And the spitfire isn’t in that category.
Yeah. I got a vio for doing it. I think you would be correct. Well, that is why casual exists. Basically just a mess around server. Or thats what it turned into.
Spitfire is allowed to go over 250kts under 10k getting it to 250 kts is an issue though- I think anyway but I’m pretty sure even in fighters you have to stick to the 250 knt rule under 10,000 ft
In an active airspace, you can’t do something eradicate, but it’s best to do that, although fighter jets don’t have the 250kts rule under 10,000 in an active airspace it’s best to follow that for many reasons.
Oh okay, I always try to keep it under 250kts under 10K as I’ve known people to get ghosted before. No need to risk it.
@Maxmustang BallerSez: You forgot your second parenthesis!
VMaxSez: Opinions, I believe, getting to 250, only Jets fighters are unrestricted ect is not a consensus nor does it ansewer the Question! (The Spit is rated at 369Mph+ (.47Mach) in fighting Trim by the book. I’ve flown at that rate+ above 10Grand.
Let’s cut to the chase. IF published a Fighter Speed Rule years ago.
I could not find the Official IF published Fighter Speed Rules with a diligent search. @DeerCrusher, What’s the bottom line are: “Fighters”
Speed Restricted? Where is this previously written and published IF Reg/Rule that authorizes an unlimited fighter speed exception to the 250/010 limit. Does the Rule cite “Fighter” or “Jet Fighters”. Just askin, Max
This would be a good topic to reference:
Additionally, I’d recommend flying at airspeeds your typical airliner would fly when in and under ATC airspace. Once you’ve left ATC’s jurisdiction, then you are free to fly whatever speeds you’d like. I think that’s a safe bet. Just need to be mindful of ATC and other Pilot fledglings. 🙂
It’s for modern fighters only. If the KC-10 has a 250knt limit, I’m pretty sure the Spitfire would too.
@KennedyTurner. MaxSez, Spelling, punctuation, grammar correctors,& Topic switchers should review Skitts / Muphry’s law! There’s an adage that states: “If you write anything criticizing editing or proofreading, there will be a fault of some kind in what you have written.” Skitt’s is a deliberate misspelling of Murphy’s law. Similar laws have also been coined, usually in the context of online communication, under names including Umhoefer’s Rule (or Umhöfer’s Rule),Skitt’s Law,Hartman’s Law of Prescriptivist Retaliation (or The Law of Prescriptive Retaliation),The Iron Law of Nitpicking, McKean’s Law, and Bell’s First Law of USENE. Further variations state that flaws in a printed or published work will only be discovered after it is printed and not during proofreading, and flaws such as spelling, punctuation and grammar errors will only be discovered by the viewer/sender only during rereading from the “Sent” box!

@DeerCrusher… Your response dose not answer the mail. Etiquette is not an issue. The issue is the “IF Fighter Speed Waiver”… Is it of record any longer in the IF or FDS archives? Can you produce it or have it produced in its original form to solve my Spitfire, speed, overspeed dilemma? Thanks, Max
Tyler’s post covers that
Not sure what fighter speed waiver you’re referring to. It’d be a challenge to break any rules with the Spit in regards to speed in the first place. Wouldn’t worry about it too much
@DeerCrusher… Pls disregard my last. I obviously missed the statement in Tyler’s etiquette missive eg; NO SYSTEM LIMIT
ON SPEEDS OF “FIGHTER” AIRCRAFT. Now that statement answer the mail. That leads to the question “Why” is the Spitfire a lame duck and not afforded equal treatment.
What say you @Tyler_Shelton, Pls review the bidding on this Topic
and give my Hanger Queen Spitfire a rebirth as a speedy, no restrictions IF Fighter Aircraft. Regards All. Max Sends
Crusher: FYI… The Spit is rated at 369Mph+ (.47Mach) in fighting Trim by the book. I’ve flown at that rate+ at 99Grand,
I’ve flown the spit at low levels, with no issues of speed vio’s.
@DeerCrusher… Pls close this Topic it’s served it’s purpose and was fun, Warm Regards, MadMax
