After a suggestion on my last topic about New York JFK I hopped straight on a plane to Toronto to spot some more flight! I am restarting this series after a long break because I just missed the feeling of travelling the world and spotting at airports. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice warm sun in Toronto today while spotting, a nice 22 degrees Celsius with a 6 knot wind from the North East, this meant that landing aircraft used runway 05 and departing aircraft used runway 06L.
Details
All flights are real flights that were operating on the 19th of June with accurate arrival and departure times as well as weather and runway usage. Information was gathered from Flightaware, Flightradar24 & AllMetSat.com for the weather. Spotting locations used are also real spotting locations I found online.
I finally decided to upgrade my spotting since my trip to Dublin, I got so tired of carrying my camera stuff around that I hired a car, which is helpful cause the runway usage meant that my spotting locations were miles apart. It also helped because the first aircraft I wanted to catch was at 7:40 am, so I thankfully could drive from the hotel in 20 minutes instead of 45-60 minutes on public transport. And when I arrived at the spotting location I used for all of the departing aircraft, Convair Drive, I saw the first aircraft I was looking for Porter Airlines Dash-8 service from Toronto Pearson to Montreal-Trudeau, PD111.
I then hopped back in my car and head straight over to the spotting location I used for all arriving aircraft, Bramalea Road Gate. And at 8:29 am, I caught the Air Canada Rouge service from Quebec operated on their A319, RV1953.
I then had 1 hour until the next aircraft on my list I wanted to catch, so I drove over to Vanguard Drive to sample my first ever Tim Hortons, which lived up to expectations with the Farmers Breakfast Wrap. Once I finished absolutely devouring my breakfast and coffee I hopped back in the car and raced to Convair Drive to catch Air Canada’s 9:30 am service to Hato (Curacao) which today was operated on their A220-300, AC950.
I then hopped in my car and head back over to spot on runway 05 as I had my eye on 2 arriving aircraft arriving within the next hour and a half. the first aircraft arrived at 10:09am from New York’s LaGuardia, operated by Air Canada Jazz on their E175, QK8985.
Roughly 45 minutes later at 10:55am I caught Pakistan International Airlines service from Lahore on their B777-200LR, PK797 arrive into Toronto.
I then drove back round to Convair Drive as I had 2 departing flights I then wanted to spot, if you can not tell I really planned this out based on what I wanted to see. The first flight was quite the intriguing route, Royal Jordanian’s service departing at 11:30am to Montreal-Trudeau operated on their B787-8, RJ274, where it has a brief break before continuing to Amman.
I went back into my car and had a little sleep as despite the start being slightly later because I had a car, it was still too early for my brain to be able to cope without a nap. But my alarm woke up up just in time for Egypt Air’s departure at 12:55pm to Cairo on their B777-300ER, MS996.
With a 1 hour and 50 minute break to have some lunch I decided to treat myself a little and headed to Seven Lives, a Mexican restaurant in the Kensington Market area of Toronto. Tripadvisor was right with this suggestion as it seriously hit the spot, but once done I quickly hopped in my car and went straight over to sit by runway 05 to catch WestJet’s B787-9 service from Calgary, WS656, which landed at 2:45pm.
This next flight I wanted to catch might not make sense to people who reside in North America, but being from a country with few flights from airlines based in the US I really wanted to catch this United flight, so I rushed back over to the departing runways to catch United’s A320 service to Chicago, UA1423, which departed at 3:00pm.
And for the final flight of the day I just could not miss the queen, Lufthansa’s B747-400 service from Frankfurt, which touched down on runway 05 at 4:10pm.

After spending a couple days in Toronto I will be hopping on another flight, but I have not booked it yet, so let me know where if you have any suggestions for somewhere to have me spot at that you think would be interesting!
