Spending the Day at Edinburgh Airport

So after my spotting in Mumbai I hade the homesick feeling of missing the UK, so guess what I decided to do! I hopped on a plane and headed over to Scotland to do some spotting in Edinburgh. I spent the day parked at Almondbank with a car full of an assortment from the local Greggs. Because boy did I miss their steak slice and sausage rolls! I am not gonna go into as much depth when writing my travels in Edinburgh because I am sure you guys are not interested in me pigging out on Greggs and other treats from Scotland and the UK that I have missed!

Details

All flights are real flights that were operating on the 23rd of June with accurate arrival and departure times as well as weather and runway usage. Information was gathered from Flightaware, Flightradar24 & AllMetSat.com for the weather. Spotting locations used are also real spotting locations I found online.

I was parked up and ready to go to catch my first flight at 7:52 am, a Jet2 B737-800 service to Alicante, LS775.

Next I caught a landing at 8:10 am, the Delta B767-300 service from Boston, DL122.

The next landing was a Norwegian Air B737-800 from Stockholm, D84463, which landed very shortly after at 8:19 am.

The next arrival was 1 hour and 41 minutes later at 10 am, a Turkish Airlines A321 from Istanbul, TK1343.

We were then treating to what is in my opinion, quite a peculiar departure, in Hainan Airlines A330-300 service to Beijing Capital, HU408, which departed at 12 pm.

This was followed by a Qatar Airways B787-8 from Doha, QR29, at 12:57 pm.

We then got a string of departures, the first was a B787-9 belonging to WestJet, bound for Calgary, WS61 at 1 pm.

The next aircraft in our string of departures was a Brussels Airlines A319 bound for Brussels, SN2064, which departed at 3:15 pm.

The final departure of the day was an Air France A318 bound for Paris, AF1487, which is quite a rare aircraft nowadays so I was pleased when it started its roll at 5:05 pm.

And our final aircraft of the day was a BA Citflyer E190 arriving from London City, CJ8706, which touched down at 5:09 pm.

I didn’t realize WestJet flew this route! Great pictures!

I will be completely honest, I didn’t either, when I was looking at Flightaware I was shocked! But what shocked me even more was the insane amount of Delta 767 and United 757 flights to cities in the US! Boston, New York, Newark, Atlanta, Washington Dulles & Chicago we’re the ones I spotted on Flightaware just today alone!

Why thank you mr butter!

Yeah, they’re pretty well connected! Delta is going to start flying there from Minneapolis as well, which is pretty cool. I think they’ll be using the 767 on that routing.

Yeah, I am surprised Edinburgh can accommodate that many B767’s, A330’s and B787’s given it doesn’t have that many wide-body gates!
