Welcome back and to the Community!

The original Space shuttle that you might be thinking of was removed a while ago. It was added back as a mission.

To find it you can go to Flight Mode → Missions → Challenges → Scroll to the right and select Shuttle Approach Runway 15. Make sure you have selected Multiplayer in the bottom left.

It would have been nice if the that mission actually started of in space.

@Chopper1 Welcome to the community!

I was thinking, dreaming maybe, in relation to the topic of “what will IF look like in 10 years.”

Imagine if orbital mechanics might get added on top of atmospheric physics. Flight to the Moon or Mars? Not a problem (I’m partial to Venus, but the crushing and acidic atmosphere is an issue…).

But presumably some rudimentary, at least, orbital physics is likely needed for:

Which is a bit outside the scope of atmospheric flight, even though it is all “Newtonian” physics.

U need to pause the game and don’t close your device, then crash the plane and press end flight. After that, enter your logbook and you will see that the plane is floating. Fun fact: the longer you pause the higher your plane will go

I am too dumb to properly understand what you just said there.
But space flight does sound quite fun.

It’s like packing your suitcase for a tropical summer vs a harsh winter destination.

Weather and clothes still work by the same rules, but your suitcase looks way different when you’re headed for the snow.

Similarly, the physics rules of Isaac Newton are the same inside vs outside the atmosphere. But how you describe each case in computer code is unique to the situation (lift, wind resistance, gravity always down; vs, unimpeaded ballistic motion, and orbital mechanics with gravity not limited to down, and not limited to just the Earth etc.)

In the case of motion above the atmosphere, if you have enough forward speed, you no longer need thrust (don’t need fuel). And you’ll never fall back to the ground.

damn bro this one reply teaches me more than my teachers 🤣
thanks for taking the time to explain something to someone stupid :)
