Southwest to Receive 10 MAX 8s by October

Hi all, I just wanted to inform you, Southwest Airlines will now have 10 MAX 8s by the end of September, and will receive 4 more by the end of 2017. The first Southwest MAX will be delivered in August, before the October 1st revenue service. Garry Kelly, the airlines chief executive said that Southwest does not expect any delays in the delivery of the MAXs. Heres the article

As a resident of Houston, Texas, the city of a Southwest hub, I am extremely excited to hear this news! Because what’s better than seeing a 737 MAX fly over your house…besides actually flying on it…
Have a good day!

Awesome news, hoping that they are along some of the routes I take each year

YAY!!! This is so exciting! I see Southwest Airlines daily in Arizona, so it will be cool once I get to start seeing some 737 Maxs! :)

Will it contain IFE?

Same here! They will almost certainly be at DAL, HOU, MCO, MDW, BWI, ATL, PHX, DEN, LAS, and OAK, because these are the Southwest operating bases.

Ya know, I think they might, for the medium haul routes to Central America, and the Carribean, but I really don’t know 🙄😂

Yes!! I can’t wait for the MAX’s to fly into ISP.
But on the other hand I am really going to miss the -300’s :/

Actually, Chicago Midway, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Denver, Phoenix, and Dallas are way bigger hubs than Houston

I personally don’t think that’s gonna happen any time soon, maybe the MAX 7 but probably not a route to which a MAX is needed

I mean like compared to other traffic, Houston has the most Southwest, I think

Out of the 11 bases/hubs Southwest has, Houston is #7 in daily departures

Oh ok! You learn something new everyday!

Are the MAX 8’s gonna have the same capacity of the -800’s? Cause here in ISP we get -800’s daily as well

Yes Max 7, 8 and 9 are just improved version of -700, -800, and -900. Max 200 is Max 8 with capacity of 200 seats.

Maybe, but Southwest is still ordering and receiving 737-800 and KISP probably wouldn’t be a destination where you would need a MAX. Especially if the capacity of the 737-800 is the same on the MAX 8. Southwest isn’t just switching out routes for the 737-800 and replacing it with the MAX. KISP also doesn’t have enough demand to add another route on Southwest

October 1st is the golden date! I might be flying the 2nd ever SWA MAX flight!

I might be too! Hopefully…
