Many of you have heard the news of Southwest retiring the remaining two Desert Gold / Classic Retro livery 737-700’s in the coming days. As we as the fact Illinois One and Tennessee one were both repainted / returned to lessor.
Well fear no more! In a statement released by Southwest Airlines, the stated that they plan to introduce the classic retro livery honoring Herbert D. Kelleher, the founder of Southwest Airlines, onto a brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The aircraft will be registered N871HK
Southwest also stated plans to paint a 737 MAX 8 in the canyon blue to honor Colleen Barrett, nicknamed “Heroine of the Heart.”
Southwest also stated that they will be repainting a 737-800 in the Illinois One livery, and one in the Tennessee One livery! I was lucky enough to see the old Tennessee one jet, N922WN, once before it was repainted into the new heart livery.
What do you guys think about these news?
Personally for me I’m beyond excited!
I can’t wait to see what a classic livery looks on such a modern aircraft like a max 8!
