Anyone know what sports teams were playing around that time? I believe SWA des some stuff with the NBA, and maby some football, but I think they got out of the football…

I don’t think the Magic and Heat were playing recently. Could be multiple reasons why they are at Miami

I don’t know why KFLL and MIA are both my home airports and have never seen a southwest at Miami. All of there flighst would be into KFLL. So, honestly, I have never seen this before

Honestly, It was probably a charter service

Jetblue and Southwest both service flights daily in and out of Fort Lauderdale…

It could possibly be maintenance… super confusing to me to be honest.

Yes I know, Southwest does not have any scheduled flight to Miami, so as I said it was most likely a charter or maintenance :)

Miami provides MRO services. Plenty of aircraft go their for heavy repairs and maintenance.

Unusual? Sure. No big deal though. Planes can fly anywhere and everywhere even if it’s not their own fortress.

Aircraft receiving heavy maintenance can’t always get repaired in house. They get sent elsewhere if necessary.

Sticking with Florida, Jacksonville (VQQ, not JAX) has an MRO facility used by Delta, American, JetBlue, and many others. Melbourne, Florida (MLB) has an MRO facility as well I think. I know many Air Canada aircraft get sent there for repaint.

Southwest flies there for maintenance at AAR along with United. Its a common site, and as of right now there are some Ethiopian Cargo 757s sitting at this facility.
