Since it entered service with Southwest around 8 years ago, the 737 MAX 8 has proven invaluable to the airline’s expansion. Not only has it made transcontinental flights more feasible, it also has allowed the low-cost-carrier to serve Hawaii from as far east as Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Sacramento. Much of Southwest’s Hawaiian flying is handled by its focus city ipertion in Oakland, which serves Honolulu, Kahului, and Lihue.
