A fighter jet just did a sonic Boom at about 6000 feet above our house! IS THIS EVEN LEGAL!? I think it was an F/A 18.
I WANT AN EXPLANATION, RAF!

I don’t think that’s legal at all! That’s why Concorde was so limited on routes, I’m pretty sure International Laws say you can’t make sonic booms over land (Area 51 is an exception). Make sure it was a sonic boom. Did you see it?
This has happened a few times in south east England over the past year because of QRF Typhoons being launched from RAF Coningsby. Not sure if this is the cause of what you heard though but that’s usually it.
Well, a white ring and flash around a fighter is probably a sonic Boom.
And yes, luckily I had my binoculars.
Yes, very likely. Of course a plane will be authorised to FLY AT 6000 FT AND DO A SONIC BOOM OVER AN EXTREMELY POPULATED AREA. FAT CHANCE.
If that’s what you saw it was a sonic boom! I’m pretty sure in the US you can call the USAF and maybe ask but not sure about Britian. I’m sure RAF might know if you found a phone number.
This would not be authorized
Deffinatly not!
It’s never authorised but it’s happened a few times over the past year.
Hijack a fighter. Honestly.
I was tracking it on flight radar but it says it’s a 737-200-ER…
Weird.
I’m close to an airport too
