A large number of aircraft are expected to arrive at SKBO toddy.Due to the high elevation of SKBO, approach speeds are significantly higher than at low-altitude airports, and the system won’t alert you if your speed is too high. Therefore, I’d like to share the speed restrictions for SKBO with you. Following these can greatly reduce the controller’s workload and contribute to more professional flying.
- North East
Pilot are expected at FL180 and 250-200 kt at PAPET. Then Approach Controller will sequence you and vector to IAF.
- North West
Pilot are expected at FL170 and 250-200 kt at IRUPU and NOR02. Then Approach Controller will sequence you and vector to IAF.
- South
Pilot are expected at FL180 and 270 kt at VUNEX and FL180 and 250 kt at BO844 and BO877 Then Approach Controller will sequence you and vector to IAF.
Of course, there are many other speed and altitude restrictions on the chart that I haven’t mentioned here. Feel free to read further if you’re interested. Hopefully, this post can help make today’s event at SKBO more professional and reduce conflicts.
