Not to be mean, but I think the spotting category should be reserved for shots that utilize actual cameras or at the very least have readable tail numbers. Otherwise the quality of the topic is incredibly poor. Just my two cents perhaps others agree or disagree.

So, if you read the title, you already know what this is about. But in case you don’t — Burbank is a Class Charlie airport, so we don’t see too many large aircraft, especially heavies. I’ve been a spotter for 6 years, but I do agree everyone starts somewhere. But with photography, you either have the eye for it like @AvChicken or you don’t.

They aren’t from terribly far away and you can even read the reg on the underside of the EVA’s wing. It’s totally acceptable. I agree that there sometimes pop up phone topics where the quality is abhorrent but this decidedly isn’t one of them.

That’s for comps when topics are regularly going to 100+ photos in a single thread, not for general topics. There are very few phone competitors in comps anyways, last year I think we had 3 and two of them got eliminated at the earliest possible point. I don’t think there needs to be more stringent guidelines in regular topics especially when the quality is not awful.

I think the quality isn’t the problem, its the lack of effort that is being put into it. This is one of his better topics, but it was still basically shoot and upload without any additional effort. Thats the issue to me.

I’d say the same people that agree that S&W topics became quantity over quality. I’m not saying everyone needs to buy a Sony A1, but in my opinion, some effort needs to be required to create a topic.

this shows the passive aggressiveness in your tone, as the user does not have an digital camera nor supposedly no visible tail numbers (wrong, as in photos 2 and 3 they’re quite readable tbh)
