Snowy Contrast @KMMH

❄️ Snowy Contrast ❄️

I say this every time but I think these are some of my best shots.

I was gonna title this topic “Crazy Contrast” but andrewwu already has a topic called that :0

Mammoth airport is a small regional airport located in Mammoth, California.

Enjoy the shots! (Some of these do have fence distortion as I was taking them… well… through a fence)

yep lol

You can tag me whenever I’m not a mod or a staff lol

The editing is certainly an improvement on last time. I think you could consider doing some cropping but other than that it looks fine.

I have more suggestions regarding shooting if you want.

How does this like come up in your head when you’re coming up with a name lol I can just imagine you thinking of a name and then trying to find if anyone else has used it LOL

I’ve memorized almost every topic on here. Lol.

Also sure some shooting suggestions would be great :)

That’s frightening

Just a couple things, nothing too major:

  • A 55-250 can probably fit through most fences so try to get it as far into the fence as you can (within reason), and take the lens hood of if you’re using it. This will reduce or eliminate the obvious fence you see in photos 2 and 6. If you can’t get the lens through the fence, you can kind of cup your hand around the lens and then match your hand up with the links in the fence to keep your camera centered in the fence hole.

  • Especially with scenic airports like this don’t just point at the aircraft and fire off, think about what you’re shooting. Look around for things that could be interesting to get in frame and then actively try to frame them. For example, I think photo 1 could be a lot stronger if the tip of that rock formation was shown on the right and then you cropped it so that the big rock was taking up the right half and the helicopter the left half. This kind of takes time to develop but it’s important to always think about what you’re shooting and why.

  • With props and helicopters, consider trying a lower shutter speed for prop blur (as long as you’re not shooting an airshow or some fast action). You can push the aperture to maybe like F/11 or F/13 to give you a little more leeway to use something like 1/320 or 1/200 or something like that.

I’ll pretend I believe that’s true, and that this neat feature showing topics with similar titles to the one you typed while creating a new topic doesn’t exist:

I will, thanks for the reminder :)

Yeah I did use this as well, but I did actually remember Andrew created a “crazy contrast” topic a while back
