Bumping this topic whilst there is activity concerning a revamped autopilot. I’ve seen this idea pop up a few times in other topics but without any topics linked.
Well here is a topic covering these issues.
Please vote for this feature to get a more realistic and more interesting throttle !

Voted! This would be so useful if implemented…
Slight correction: This would be more alike to what you would find on the N1 LIMIT page on the 737, or a “soft derate” in general as opposed to FLEX (Airbus)/assumed temperature (Boeing).

With FLEX/ATM there is the option to advance the thrust levers to the full rated thrust at any time if needed, but this cannot be done in normal operations with a “soft” derate takeoff - much like how this proposed idea will work.
Just an idea: perhaps they could introduce thrust rating selection for takeoff, much like the 26/24/22K options shown above, which when selected, the throttle lock can automatically set an upper limit for the N1 based on said thrust rating, taking into account the OAT (and bleeds/packs on/off if they eventually make their way into IF.)
There may also be an option to select a FLEX/assumed temperature as mentioned above, which may either be used alone (Airbus) or in conjunction with a soft derate if permitted (Boeing), but the principle remains fundamentally the same: the throttle lock will automatically set the N1 needed for whatever thrust combination is selected.
This automatic thrust limit function based on selected rating and temperature may eventually be extended to the climb phase as well.
I do sincerely hope this is considered as it will definitely be a massive boost for realism.

Thank you for all these precisions!

Bumping this feature. It would be a large step towards realism in IF.
If unfamiliar with the request, please read the initial post of the topic.
Cheers!
