SkyWest Early Morning Run // Colorado Springs to Chicago

Colorado Springs // Chicago

I don’t really get to play Infinite Flight much anymore, but when I do, I try to fly routes that have some sort of meaningful connection to my personal life. I flew this route in June 2023 on my way back from the US Air Force Academy, but flew it in-game on March 17th. This flight contained an early-morning departure, suboptimal weather conditions, and a packed arrival into Chicago. These photos might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it’s still better than coffee. Enjoy!

Blasting out of a quiet RWY 35R at KCOS. Felt like we hit something on departure, looked like some bison. Maybe people will stop posting about them now. Cool mountains in the background.

Climbing out under moonlight. It was still dark at this point, but the sun rose faster and we lost daylight as we continued east towards Chicago. #bringbackmoonshots

An hour later, we’re approaching our TOD into Chicago’s 28C. Low visibility, snow, packed terminals, and heavy delays. Definitely sounds like Chicago.

Descending into Chicago, the snow on the ground starts to accumulate, a sign of what’s to come. I flew the BENKY6 arrival from the southwest.

Visibility was… yeah. It was bright.

Landing into the stereotypically grey winter version of Chicago with the typical suspects holding short and lining up on 28R - American and United. Winds at this point were 190@20G30KTS.

Vacated 28C and taxiing back to the terminal on the parallel, with a Lufthansa A340-600 taxiing in front of the tower. Overall an enjoyable flight minus the weather.

Thanks for sticking around – let me know if I should keep posting these.

Thanks! I’ve found that if you add a cirrus cloud layer directly under the aircraft, it creates a cool reflective effect, similar to that of snow during winter. Glad you enjoyed!
