After a lovely short break from my last trip spending some time with my uncle in France, I hopped in a taxi and headed to what is probably the smallest airport we have flown from yet! Once I arrived the airport was about as small as I expected based on the research I had done and I was checked in and through security in a breeze. As it was a small airport there was not a whole lot to do so I had a coffee and sat waiting for boarding. Once we were called I sneakily took a picture of the aircraft taking me to London while walking across the tarmac.
On this flight I booked Club Europe (Regional Business) as the price difference was not huge and I happily got comfortable in my seat looking over the right wing, 5D. As it was a small and mostly empty flight we were quick to finish boarding and takeoff. The intial climb out of Bergerac’s very short runway was quite steep but given the E190, this was quite normal.
We were not cruising very long, however, because I was seated in the Club Europe cabin I was treated to a small snack and drink as we left France. I enjoyed watching the French coast with my coffee.
Not long after entering the English Channel we began our descent. Proving how thin the Channel is, we could still see France pretty well!
As we banked past the white cliffs of Dover towards London we could still see Calais! I knew the Channel was thin towards this end but it blew my mind just how close the crossing really is!
After departing Bergerac’s short runway only 1 Hour and 27 Minutes prior, we touched down on London City’s equally short runway. I was surprised it was a smooth landing given the lack of room for error when landing, but still, not complaining!
After parking up I quickly sneaked a shot in before being ushered inside the terminal and getting told off by security for said picture. Unfortunately I was not as sneaky as I thought and my dreams of being a Ninja crushed.
