Hey IFC, it’s been a few years! Life’s been quite busy and I haven’t been active on the IFC, nor flown on IF in a long time, but I’ve finally found some time to make a topic (in fact first topic in over a year haha) to show you some screenshots from my latest flight.
I didn’t imagine this would actually come true after jokingly saying this in my last screenshot topic from June 2023, time flies eh?
Also this was actually my first flight on IF in about a year, I hadn’t flown since August 2024 (which was Qantas 1 from Sydney to London on the A380). There’s so much new stuff it took me a while to get adjusted, like the new interface, SimBrief integration, and Autopilot Plus. Also I’m embarrassed to say this but I still haven’t touched the 737 MAX, I’ll probably do so sometime in the future though. Anyways let’s get into the screenshots!
After hearing IF added the Evo Blue 787-9, I couldn’t wait to fly it, and what better route to do so than United’s longest flight, UAL2 from Singapore to San Francisco? These are also two of some of my favorite airports, especially SFO, an airport I’ve been attached to for a decade now.
After planning my FPL with SimBrief (very cool new feature!), and a long wait before departure, I started my takeoff roll at Changi’s runway 20C. In the background, the SQ A350 on the left is @SKULL-VECTOR bound for Barcelona, and on the right is @Emmanuel_Oladipo bound for Manchester, two cities both famous for their football clubs!
Departing Changi with its iconic ATC tower and The Jewel in the background!
Saying goodbye to Singapore, as a 15 hour flight across the Pacific looms ahead.
Skip ahead several hours, and we’re now flying over the city of Naha, located on the island of Okinawa in Japan. The beautiful blue ocean goes well with United’s new livery!
Skipping ahead even more, after 15 hours of flying across nothing but the deep blue depths of the Pacific Ocean, we’ve finally started our descent into the San Francisco Bay Area! The world famous Golden Gate Bridge is visible in the bottom left, and the crashing waves of the Pacific coast of California, are presented in all of its natural beauty.
United 2 Heavy on final approach into SFO’s runway 28R, viewed from Coyote Point, a place I frequented as a kid in real life.
A parallel approach into 28L and 28R, with an Air India 777-200LR on final after a 16 hour flight from Mumbai!
Touchdown for both flights! Two heavy long hauls arriving in SFO, with a combined flight time of 31 hours.
Both aircraft slowing down, with the SFO tower in the background. After waiting for the departure of another Air India 77L, this one bound for a long flight to New Delhi, I crossed 28L to taxi to gate G9 at the International Terminal, ending our flight.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t like the Evo Blue livery too much when it launched back in 2019, but over 6 years I’ve definitely grown to love it! Looks great, especially on the 787. I’m still torn between the Continental livery and the Evo Blue though, haha.
Although it’s been a while since I last flew, I loved this flight because it proved to me that IF is still very enjoyable! The parallel approach was probably my favorite part of the whole flight. IF has changed significantly while I was gone, but it’s still the same sim I know, and that makes me happy.
I hope you enjoyed my pics, I’ll see you in my next topic (whenever it comes lol)!
