Singapore Airlines A350-900 Manchester to Houston

Finished the journey from Manchester to H-Town with about a month to spare before Singapore Airlines cuts the route. Quite the journey, too, taking us over 3 continents and 2 oceans. Probably one of my favorite flights I’ve done this year, and it’s a shame SQ doesn’t think the juice is worth the squeeze.

Server: Solo
Airline: Singapore Airlines
Aircraft: Airbus A350-900
Origin: Manchester Airport, Ringway, United Kingdom (MAN)
Destination: George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas (IAH)
Flight Number: SQ52
Route: EGCC-KIAH
Seat: 21A (Business)
Time En Route: 9 Hours 58 Minutes

After a couple hours on the ground, we’re ready to head across the Pond to Houston on the second leg of our journey

Taxiing out for departure

Roaring out of Ringway

Climbout over the Irish Sea

Lunch is served at 36,000 feet over the North Atlantic

In our descent into Houston over western Louisiana

Finally here in Houston after 24 hours and 22 minutes in the air since we left Singapore

Long, long taxi across the airport over to the E Gates

Finally deplaned at our final destination

Nice photos! It is an interesting route/airline combination, SQ does quite a few “continuation” flights from Europe to the US.

Great pictures taken! It’s indeed sad that Singapore Airlines will be cutting this route. Now SQ is only left with two routes that connects the US to Europe (SQ 26/25 - EDDF ↔ KJFK & SQ12/11 RJAA-KLAX).

Very nice photos! I love flights like this that they do. We have, or had one here jfk from Frankfurt I think, on top of their direct route to Singapore.

I also flew this route in the simulator not too long ago before SIA cuts the route. Maybe in the future Manchester will see a new Texas route. Maybe a seasonal DFW-MAN route by AA. I want the big 3 to return to Manchester.

The main reason why the MAN - IAH route was a thing was because of the oil businessmen from Aberdeen needing to go to Texas for work. I guess BA will fill that route completely (and have no competition) with a stopover at LHR.

Yup. Off the top of my head, I can name:

  • SIN-FRA-JFK
  • SIN-NRT-LAX
  • SIN-TPE-LAX
  • SIN-HKG-SFO

(Italicized routes are no longer operated)

Thanks man! I don’t know why I chose to use that one, it jist popped into my head.
