Continuing our journey on to Singapore aboard one of the airlines’s 777-300ERs today. The route we’re flying today dates back to July 1st, 1992, when the airline began service to New York via Frankfurt with the 747-400. Frankfurt itself has been a part of the Singapore’s network almost since its inception, seeing service from the airline’s 747-200B, 747-300, 747-400, A380-800, A350-900, and the 777-300ER. We’re thrilled to be flying on such a historic route and can’t wait to see how the second leg of our trip goes!

After briefly deplaning to stretch oit legs, it’s time to resume our journey. We’re slightly jolted as the flight crew releases the parking brakes after the tug is connected for pushback. Meanwhile, the port GE90-115B is rumbling to life for a single-engine taxi to the runway.
Taxiing to Runway 18 across the airport from the gargantuan A380 maintainence hangar. Even though Lufthansa no longer flies the superjumbo from Frankfurt, the type is still an occasional visitor for maintainence. Looks like there’s one over there right now, minus the No. 3 engine.
Loud GE90 takeoff from FRA. The Sun is shining, there’s only a few clouds in the sky, and we’re once again relaxing in out business class seat. We reckon it’s going to be a good flight.
Climbing out of Hesse. The flight to Singapore seems slightly more full than the one from New York, but it’s still pretty quiet in the cabin.
We’ve leveled off at 35,000 feet over the Czech Republic. Lunch is being served a bit on the earlier side, with our selection today being the Thai-style pork noodle soup. The soup is delicious, as is the dessert of rum and raisin ice cream. Singapore Airlines’s catering is next-level, possibly the best the industry has to offer.
Settling in for a few hours of sleep over Northern Afghanistan. We’re quite comfy in our lie-flat seat and are looking forward to checking for light leaks, as it were. Nothing like a pair of GE90s for white noise!
Sunrise finds us in our initial descent over Kuala Lumpur. After waking up an hour ago, we had a delectable breakfast of blueberry pancakes, as good as any high-end hotel’s. Now, we’re somewhat regrettably nearing the end of our time aboard a Singapore Airlines 777 for the time being.
Landing at Changi on Runway 02R. In the background is a line of Singapore and Scoot widebodies heading out as part of the morning rush from one of the busiest airports in Asia.
Taxiing to our gate as another SQ 777-300ER heads for 02R as SQ950 to Jakarta after a half-hour delay. After slightly under a day’s worth of travel, we’re officially in Singapore.
Deplaned and getting a final glance at our aircraft as it’s readied for its next flight. While the A350 blazes new routes and the A380 is, well, the A380, Singapore Airlines’s 777-300ERs still provide sterling service that remains the envy of pretty much every other airline. We’d definitely fly on one of their 777s again and strongly recommend it. Now for a 1-day layover before continuing on to Borneo.
