Today I tried to fly from KLAX to KSFO, and my simulator stopped completely in the middle of the end. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on? I heard only the engine running but my screen was stopped.

Hi there it seems like your app froze which is pretty common to occur here and there. Unfortunately all you can do is wait until your device gets out of the freeze. You can try and prevent this by turning your graphics a little lower so you donât stress your device out.

Could you clarify the device, operating system and rendering settings you are running the simulator with?
Also, have you had a read through our Support FAQ? Itâs a handy little thread that lists common issues and fixes/ workarounds:
https://community.infiniteflight.com/t/support-faq-19-4-please-read-this-before-posting/384749/2
What do I do if I experience app crashes or lag?
General tips regardless of device:
Turn Limit Frame Rate ON (box should be ticked) if you notice that your device tends to heat up or if you are experiencing lag. A device that heats up too much is more likely to suffer performance degradation which could lead to lag and app crashes.
Infinite Flight doesnât take up a specific amount of storage, it can change depending on the area youâre flying in etc. We therefore recommend that you always have at least 1GB of storage available on your device.
Before longer flights, it is advised to reboot your device and close any apps running in the background to enhance your experience.
It is possible to fly and charge the device at the same time. The key to this is to use less power than being charged. One way to accomplish this is lower your screen brightness and ensure Infinite Flightâs low power mode is enabled.
Disable active ad or message blocking apps
Donât modify, âRootâ, or âJailbreakâ your device
Use a strong WiFi network within a relatively close proximity to your device
Lower Infinite Flight graphics and performance settings
Lower the Rendering Resolution setting.
Disable Anti-Aliasing.
Lower the Rendering Quality setting.
Lower the Texture Quality setting.
Lower Airplane count.
At any point if youâre experiencing decreased performance, âLimit frame rateâ should always be ticked. This setting can have a great negative impact on performance unless your device is considered high performance.
General iOS tips:
One great thing to do before launching Infinite Flight, is to perform a soft restart of the device. This is a quick and reliable way of making sure your device is operating at peak efficiency. This is done by holding down the power/lock button until you see âSlide to power offâ. Then hold down the home button until youâre returned to the home screen. For iOS devices without a Home button, a restart is recommended as the soft restart feature does not exist on those.
Make sure you donât have âLow power modeâ on your iPhone. If you have, the battery icon in the top right corner is yellow. This can be deactivated from Settings â Battery, or from âControl Centerâ depending on how you have it set up. Having âLow power modeâ enabled while using Infinite Flight could result in a performance degradation.
Note : This is not the same as âLow power modeâ in Infinite Flight. This is a device function.
General Android tips:
Make sure you have Android Battery Saver disabled. Having this enabled can cause a lot of degradation in terms of both storage, performance and network.
Newer Android devices may work fine with Anti-Aliasing on. Turning this off can help performance for older/less powerful Android models.
Some devices (ie Samsung) may have a Game Tuner app to enhance the performance of games. While some users have not seen an issue there is a number who have. It is best to run IF by itself instead of through a game tuner.
If none of the suggestions above helps:
As a final resort, reset the device to factory settings. Be sure to back up all important data on your device first.
I know itâs quite a long read, but itâs incredibly informative and I recommend you have a look to see if there is a solution to your issue here.
If you have an iOS device, itâs highly possible that your device is suffering from the 19.4 crashes, more info can be found below:
After a lot of investigation we are finally confident about the source of this issue. The root cause is in a 3rd party framework we use to perform requests to our servers (to download imagery and elevation tiles for example). We have reported the issue to the 3rd party but it might still take a while to get a fix.
In the meantime, we are attempting to find a workaround but it is a fairly delicate piece of code that is hard to change without potential side effects (adding more bugs).

Yes, it happened to me in flight, however, I spent more than 2 min waiting, and my device does not have high graphics, so normal that it does not crash, this time it got me completely out madness.
Thanks for the guys, I have been with the simulator for many years and it is the first time, since Beta-IFS I am a big fan of IFS

Unfortunately it does happen sometimes. Crashes are, for the most part, unpredictable.
If you find the issue occurs again, I recommend following the steps I linked in the thread above, otherwise if this is the first time youâve had it happen, and it doesnât happen again, itâs probably safe to assume it was an one off event âşď¸

Indeed, the truth is that it is frustrating to find something like this, when you have had full control of the flight.
