My name is Nikolai, and I’d like to tell you about SimPictures, the project I work on in my free time.
In a nutshell, SimPictures is a website for sharing your flight simulator screenshots, similar to JetPhotos or Instagram.
At SimPictures, you can browse through pictures uploaded by other users, like and comment on their screenshots, and create your own collection of screenshots that you can easily share with friends via a link. SimPictures is a great tool to find flight ideas and connect with other pilots as well!
Besides Infinite Flight, SimPictures accepts screenshots from desktop flight simulators like Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane.
Your profile page. As a SimPictures member, you can customize your profile page with a bio, profile picture, and banner. Under profile information, all of your screenshots are listed.
You can add metadata to your screenshots, including aircraft type, registration, airline, flight details, and location information. You can also specify which add-ons you used, which is especially useful for desktop flight simulator users.
Why do we screen photos? Quality content is vital on SimPictures, which is why every submission undergoes screening — our team ensures that your screenshots meet our standards and guidelines. Our screening team is made up of skilled photographers, many of whom have extensive experience in aviation and flight simulation photography, including contributors to platforms like JetPhotos.
Here is my tip: to get your pictures accepted on SimPictures, focus on these key aspects:
- Ensure your subject is well-cropped and centered
- Lighting and exposure
- Perspective
- Graphics quality
- Remove any visible user interface elements to create a cleaner image
- Avoid excessive editing
While Infinite Flight’s graphics may not be as advanced as those of desktop simulators, our screeners apply particularly high standards to ensure quality. We are working on improving our current Guidelines to make things as clear as possible for everyone.
What’s coming next? I’m constantly working to add new features to SimPictures.
