Some SID approaches have sharp and quick turns. If an aircraft doesn’t make the turn it will go in circles. Are approaches made so that that doesn’t happen?
Hey there, the autopilot was made to be a little smoother so this shouldn’t be as much of an issue as it used to be. However, you should make sure you’re going at a reasonably slow enough speed to make the sharp turns in some SIDs and STARs.
Okay thank you!
Approaches were made based on the data that we use in the real world. That said, it is up to you, the pilot, to ensure that sharp turns are monitored carefully. Autopilot can’t be doing all of the work. 🙂
