Severe Autopilot Instability Due to Extreme Crosswind Bug

While flying on autopilot+ in Infinite Flight, I returned to the app and found my aircraft violently swaying left to right. Winds were showing 120kts crosswind which is extremely high and likely the cause. I wasn’t heavy, so it’s probably not weight related. What made it worse was that it happened again near a waypoint, almost capsizing the aircraft and disengaging autopilot. That time I was monitoring it.

I’m not sure if the swaying was triggered by me re-entering the session, but it was super scary. I definitely wouldn’t want this happening during an overnight flight. Just flagging this for the team in case it’s a sim bug that needs looking into.

yeah the actual AP of the Sim is super sensitive to the wind , this happened to me months ago
but it’s most a mater of Autopilot rework I guess

Kinda defeats the purpose of autopilot if it can’t handle a little wind huh? You end up taking control to calm the plane down :joy:

The Devs mentioned that wind changes have no effect on Autopilot Plus.
It goes on with the condition you left it with.
The Instability happened when you went back on the flight not during the AP+ Phase.

Yeah I know but that’s the problem. It’s a flaw in the system.

My assumption, based on the behaviour when re-entering a session, is that the aircraft takes a moment or two to align its motion (drift with the wind) to the most current local winds.

After the transition, all is stable, even with a powerful crosswind. Only gusts or turbulence would have any effect from then on, and it should then be business as usual.

The AP appears be acting properly, and a 120kt crosswind is not out of the ordinary.
