Setup using an iPhone, Amazon Firestick, and PS5 DualSense Edge Controller!

Hey everyone! 👋😊

I just wanted to share my new setup that I’ve put together for Infinite Flight. Maybe some of you here could benefit from the components in my setup.

From the very beginning of playing this game, I used my phone, but I really wanted to upgrade to something better. I went into extensive research on potentially buying a tablet and joystick. I was trying to figure out which tablet would be best for the game and which ones to avoid. I was also exploring joystick options, compatibility with the game or tablet, and whether I needed an adapter. The research was quite challenging for me to grasp fully, and I didn’t want to waste money on something that might not work.

Being a big fan of console video games and tech in general, I have a variety of devices that I used for consoles and other stuff. So I had a big collection of random things. With all these devices at hand, I brainstormed to create a setup using what I already owned.

After lots of research and testing, I successfully created a setup using the devices I had, and only paying $9 for an app. I’m quite proud of this achievement. 😅 I believe this setup is great.

Let’s get started: I connected an Amazon Firestick to an old Samsung TV. By linking the Amazon Firestick to my TV, I essentially transformed it into a smart TV. Then I could download various apps from the Amazon App Store using my Wi-Fi connection. I specifically downloaded an app called “AirPlay” for a one-time payment of $9.

AirPlay allows me to connect my iPhone and share the screen on my TV. So there we go, I had Infinite Flight fullscreen on my TV! ✅

Now, speaking of delays, they can vary for each person due to internet speed. For me, I have insanely fast internet, and I noticed a slight delay when using AirPlay, but it wasn’t that bad. Honestly, after about 2 hours of playing IF, I got used to it and was controlling my airplane perfectly fine. If the delay had been really bad, I wouldn’t have recommended it.

Moving on to the joystick, I have a PS5 DualSense Edge. It has Bluetooth, so I connected it to my iPhone, and there you go! iPhone on the TV screen with a controller! 🎮📺✅

Let me quickly give you a rundown of the PS5 DualSense Controller for those who may not know. It’s basically the ultimate customizable controller for the PS5, with extra buttons under the controller and tons of features. Unfortunately, it’s very expensive…

Now, the next part was to really maximize the controller’s smoothness for Infinite Flight.

One issue I faced when customizing the controller settings was the lack of button options for the rudder control on the IF in game settings. The game only allowed me to assign rudder control on either the d-pad or left and right analog, which I was already using for plane movement and camera control. Using the rudder on the d-pad didn’t feel comfortable either, when combining with the other button layouts. So, I went to my PS5 and adjusted the DualSense controller settings, utilizing a feature that allowed me to adjust the button layout. I reassigned my left and right d-pad buttons to my back buttons for a better rudder control position on the controller and it worked like a charm in the game! Now, I have full control of the speed and complete movement of the plane and camera without having to move my fingers.

Moving on to the last and most challenging part, controlling the plane with your thumbs requires extreme precision, making it quite a challenge. But don’t worry, I have a great solution for that.

So, a year ago, I purchased this custom-made 3D Printed analog from Etsy for my controller. This analog is quite tall and has a unique thumb grip that you can adjust to fit perfectly on your analog grip. After testing it on the game with the DualSense controller, it was just awesome to use. I achieved very good precision in plane movement almost instantly.

Regarding my controller button layout, if anyone is interested:

- Right Analog: Plane Movement

- Left Analog: Camera Movement

- Extra two buttons under the controller: Rudder

- R2: Throttle Up

- L2: Throttle Down

- R1: Spoiler

- L1: Reverse Throttle

- X: Parking Brakes

- Triangle: Flaps up

- Square: Flaps down

- Circle: Gear

Essentially, I can now manually control the whole plane using only my controller.

So yea, that’s it! I really love this setup, and I just wanted to share it with you all! ❤️

And if you read everything, thank you a lot! I put a lot of research and effort into this setup, so I’m very proud of it. It may not be anything extraordinary compared to what I’ve seen, but I really wanted to share this and maybe inspire others. 💡

That’s awesome! I’ve thought about connecting my PS4 controller to my iPhone but I knew setting it up would be a mess. Props to you!

Amazing!! :D
