Hey everyone! I wanted to bring this topic up again and add a few points from my experience.
There have already been a few requests regarding separate interior and exterior audio controls, but most of them haven’t received much attention. Rather than simply making another duplicate request, I wanted to revisit the idea with a bit more explanation on why this is an issue in actual use.
The biggest problem isn’t just the difference in volume between the interior and exterior views, but how sudden that change is.
With headphones on, switching to an external view can be a pretty nasty jumpscare, especially when the engines suddenly become much louder.
Then, switching back into the cockpit leaves everything noticeably quieter again. I often find myself adjusting my phone’s volume just to keep the audio at a comfortable level.
With how often this happens, I’m genuinely starting to wonder how long my phone’s physical volume buttons are going to survive the constant adjustments.
I think having separate Interior and Exterior volume controls would solve this pretty well. Users could set each one to a comfortable level without having to constantly adjust their device volume.
Even a simple Interior ↔ Exterior balance slider could achieve the same thing.
This would make switching between views much more consistent, while also making the overall audio experience more comfortable, especially with headphones.
I know this has been brought up before, but I hope giving it a more detailed explanation and highlighting some of the practical issues can bring some attention back to the idea.
