Hi IFC, I’m always wondering at which altitude you have to turn on/off the seat belt sign. at which altitude do airlines this (sorry if my English is broke)
Below 10,000ft is a good altitude to turn it on and turn it off above 10,000ft
It varies to be honest depending on various factors, including weather conditions. Usually though the minimum altitude is 10,000ft.
I usually turn it off when above that altitude, and when my pitch up angle is no more than 5°.
I might do it wrong but I turn it off after 10,000ft and turn it on abt 1 minute before i start my descent
I turn mine off once I reach cruise; usually around FL330. I turn it on at top of descent.
It usually varies for me but I generally turn it on/off passing 10,000ft on the way up as well on the way down
(I check SkyVector and other applications for reports of turbulence which helps me determine what altitude would be best for the sign to turn off)
Since 10,000ft is a threshold for various procedures (Sterile flight deck, landing lights, etc.), I usually turn off the seat belt sign and landing lights at the same time once I pass this altitude. This helps streamline the flow and ensures I don’t forget anything.
Seatbelt sign? Yeah I always forget that
The FAA would like to have a word with you.
I do it when I reach cruising altitude and the turbulence Is okay if not minimal
Usually the captain turns the seatbelt sign off once we get close to our cruise altitude as long as there is no turbulence.
I leave it on for the duration of the flight. Never know when an A320 with a HEAVY callsign might ram you from behind
It mainly varies between operators due to their SOPs. Having just flown BA and Ryanair recently, I could observe that BA turns on/off their seatbelt sign at 10,000ft, while Ryanair at the cruising altitude regardless, and just before the descent, so it varies.
I personally turn it off at cruising altitude and on at 10,000ft. Hope it helps!
Praying for the bladders or your passengers
A little inaccurate but whatever
It varies, if there is turbulence during the climb I will keep it on until the turbulence subsides. If there is no turbulence, I do it above 10,000 ft with the landing lights and speed increase. As for descent, I do it when I activate my VNAV around 1 minute from beginning my descent.
I guess asking for a the sterile flight deck chime would obviously be a feature request, wouldn’t it…
I turn it off when crossed FL100, set VS to 2000fpm and reached my speed depending on aircraft (like 300kts).
I turn it on when I descend through FL250
i turn it off when passing FL100 and turn it on after passing FL100 too
i usually turn it off after 15000 feet if i’m not in turbulent weather or a way too steep climb and the same goes for descent. i turn it on at 15000 feet depending on weather and descent rate
