Search Feature for Global

I’ve been wondering about this, would it be a good idea to scroll for hours looking for your airport? I would guess not, so I think it would be good to have a search bar where you can search up keywords. For example, you’re looking for KLAX, you could either search:

KLAX
KL
Los Angeles

  • This would seem well organized
  • Will cause clutter
  • Could use some adjustments (reply below)

I have thought of that once and I think there will be a search button.

*43,983 airports as of 2010

What adjustments are needed @tranquil_skyflyer?

I think this would help; I’m searching for Ben Gurion Intl.
I could search:
Ben G…
Tel Av…
LLBG
or
TLV

just like I would be able to search
LAX for Los Angeles or SXM for Sint Maarten.

So if someone doesn’t know the ICAO, they can just search the IATA, correct?

Yes (-: It makes it much easier.

Yes please! Scrolling through a list will be agony!

Maybe they could keep the old system and have regions you spawn in, so it won’t be as hard.

I don’t think the devs would add global without this feature…It would be definately be the first feature request

Yes, and search for waypoints and navaids.

It will probably be a graphical interface like the front splash screen you see when you first come into the app. Zoom in to the region you care about and click on the airport. Maybe that why that new shiny screen was placed there. This would circumvent the language barrier. Hmm…

Or maybe zoom in or search a country and choose the airport.

Or you could also organize them like this:

Continent: e.g. Asia
Country: e.g. China
Area/City: e.g. Beijing
Then select the airport.
