Scenic Northern Italy Flyout @ LIMF - 091600ZMAY20 - "the Cradle of Italian Liberty"

40+ Attending – HAPPENING NOW!

Update 4/29: now partnering with @easyJetVirtual for a second wave of departures.

Hello! Like many others before me, I have decided to host my first IF event in my hometown airport.
I hope you will join me on this fly out for some breathtaking views of the Alps!

Server: Expert

Airport: Torino-Caselle Airport (LIMF)

First Wave: 2020-05-09T16:00:00Z

Second Wave: 2020-05-09T16:30:00Z

Please note: the flyout is meant to replicate real departures out of Torino; however, the starting positions may deviate from reality to accommodate more pilots. GA, Cargo and Military departures are also available!

Torino-Caselle Airport, also known as Sandro Pertini International Airport (Aeroporto Internazionale Sandro Pertini), is located 16 km (9.9 mi) northwest of the city of Turin, Italy. It is the main airport in Italy’s Piemonte region, with regular scheduled and charter services to various cities across Italy, Europe and North Africa.

The airport is also home to two Leonardo S.p.A. plants, which specialize in the assembly and final phase of production, maintenance, ground testing and flight tests of military and civilian aircraft prototypes. These include the AMX-ACOL, ATR 42 MP, ATR 72 MP, C-27J Spartan, Eurofighter, Tornado MLU and Sky-X.

Turin (Torino) is an important business and cultural center in northern Italy. It is the capital city of Piedmont (Piemonte) and was the first Italian capital from 1861 to 1865.

Turin is sometimes called “the cradle of Italian liberty” for having been the birthplace and home of notable individuals who contributed to the Risorgimento, the movement that led to the country’s unification. Later, Turin became a major European crossroad for industry, commerce and trade, and is part of the famous “industrial triangle” along with Milan and Genoa.

Turin is also home to much of the Italian automotive industry, with the headquarters of Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo.

Airport Details

The airport resides at an elevation of 989 feet (301 m) above sea level and covers an area of more than 57,000 square meters. It has one runway designated 18/36 with an asphalt surface measuring 3,300 by 60 metres (10,827 ft × 197 ft). Runway 36 is ILS-certified III B for approach with visual range less than 200 m but not less than 75 m.

The airport was built in 1953 on the site of a World War II air base, and has been renovated twice: for the 1990 FIFA World Cup, and again for the Torino 2006 Winter Olympics.

Expected RWY: 36
Due to noise abatement procedures, this is the most frequently used runway for takeoffs/landings, and it will provide the best views of the Alps upon departure.

Disclaimers:

  • A few minor aircraft changes have been made to accommodate liveries. For example, Lufthansa has used many different aircraft types on this route over the years but currently flies to LIMF with subsidiary Air Dolomiti’s E190. Since this does not exist in IF, I replaced these flights with the Lufthansa CRJ-900. If you wish to fly these routes with the E190 in generic livery, that is fine.
  • None of the military and civilian aircraft that fly out of the Leonardo plant exist in IF, so they are being replaced with similar aircraft.
  • This airport is equipped to handle heavy cargo aircraft. Due to the lack of regularly scheduled cargo service, pilots who choose one of these aprons will be able to pick their own destinations.
  • Flight times are [obviously] an approximation and will vary depending on your FPL, winds that day etc.

NOTAMs:

  • Please spawn 15 minutes before scheduled pushback.
  • Please use and respect aircraft/livery assignments and gate reservations.
  • Follow Expert Server rules and/or ATC instructions at all times.

Grazie!

Not to be offensive but did you notice your event will be on a friday? There will be an FNF in progress so likely you won’t get much attention on ES.

That’s not offensive at all! It’s a good point, so I have moved it to the weekend.

Let me know if you’d like to participate!

Done! Thanks for coming.

UPDATE 2: Cargo aprons have been added! Due to space constraints, the largest aircraft I am including is the B777-200F. Pilots may select their own destinations due to the lack of regularly scheduled cargo service. Cargo will offer some of the only opportunities for intercontinental/true longhaul departures (along with GA).

Torino Airport offers structures that are perfectly able to handle considerable cargo traffic and guarantees, owing to less traffic congestion, a smoother procedure for cargo withdrawal and delivery.

Source: aeroportoditorino.it

Since Torino is one of the most important industrial capitals of Italy, many corporations regularly contract cargo companies to operate short, medium and long-haul flights in & out of LIRF.
