SAS orders E2 Jets
The Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) will transform its regional operations with a firm order for 45 Embraer E195-E2 twinjets. Announced today during an event at its Copenhagen Kastrup Airport (CPH) hub, the airline emphasized the importance of regional connectivity as part of its wider mission to link Scandinavia with the world.
In addition to its firm order for the Embraer E195-E2, which is the largest variant in the Brazilian planemaker’s next-generation E-Jet E2 family, the Nordic airline has also secured options and purchase rights for additional aircraft. The deal sees it build on its existing Embraer operations, which see SAS Link fly older E195 jets.
The Order Embodies The Airline’s Transformation
Anko van der Werff, who serves as the CEO of Scandinavian Airlines, announced the order at a press event in the Danish capital city of Copenhagen this lunchtime. Confirming that the 45 firm orders (as well as options and purchase rights for another 10) are bound for SAS Link, the Nordic airline’s regional subsidiary, van der Werff underlined the importance of the new jets’ connectivity on a global level.
The E195-E2 can be expected all over Scandinavia, with E195 pilots able to fly the E2 after just 2.5 days of training
