Salt Lake City --> Idaho Falls; Delta A220-300

Delta started serving Idaho Falls in the mid-80s post merger as they inherited Western Airlines’ regional network out of Salt Lake City. Speaking generally, Pocatello, Helena, Butte, Hailey, Twin Falls, and Boise all joined IDA with that inheritance among many other cities in the intermountain west!
Since starting these flights, Delta has used a unique array of aircraft on this flight including 727s, the B737, every aircraft in the CRJ family, E145 & E175, the Embraer 120 brasilia (my favorite) and in recent years on a seasonal basis, the A220-100. Given I haven’t flown the Delta A220 in IF in a decent while, I figured I’d close out the weekend with this quick flight to the “potato state”!
Oh, and before I forget, @Poxy and @AvioesEJogos summon

Flight Info

Airline: Delta Airlines (DL)
Registration: N309DU
Departure Airport: Salt Lake City Int’l Airport KSLC
Arrival Airport: Idaho Falls regional airport KIDA

Flight Time: 33mins

As with any proper Salt Lake City layover, I gave myself plenty of time after arriving from Denver to enjoy breakfast at market street grill, which of course of eggs benedict! I also ventured over to see “Ally” the dinosaur that watches over B concourse in the new central plaza, before heading over to A20 where this beautiful 4 year old was arriving from Santa Barbara CA!

It wasn’t long after the aircraft got cleaning and has a crew swap that all of us 70 passengers boarded and we and pushed back for IDA! As people were boarding, the first class f/a passed out predeparture beverages; I went with a classic ginger ale!

Despite the respectable size of SLC, it was a quick taxi to 34L and soon we were airboarn after the natorious “whale like” spool up of those PW1500G engines! If you look closely, you’ll see a newly delivered southwest max 8 chilling at B concourse waiting for its flight back to Baltimore!

Rocketing out of the Salt Lake valley with a fantastic view of Bountiful airport IYKYK !

Reaching our brief cruising altitude of 27,000 over Bear Lake! Despite the super short duration of the flight, our cabins’ amazing f/a still passed out a snack basket of which I got biscoff, and another round of drinks; which of course I had anothe ginger ale!

Beginning our descent over the farmlands that seperate Soda Springs and Lava Hot Springs; not to far from Preston Idaho where the natorious movie Napolean Dynamite was filmed back in 2004!

Following I15 on our final approach to runway 3.

200… 100…
Definately one of the harder landings I’ve expirenced in my life. This one was because of a 25kt left crosswind that make the entire approach unstable.

Safe at the gate, right as a snow storm starts to roll in.
