I sometimes control KLAX, and it can get pretty busy over there, does anyone know how far apart a aircraft needs to be on the departure until I can grant permission for the other aircraft to takeoff?
If there are no departures, anticipated separation allows for you to clear the next aircraft for takeoff while the first departure is rolling at or above 80-100 knots. Just make sure you are taking aircraft type into account, as a 737 rolling over a Q400 is maybe not a good thing.
Minimum separation is 3 nautical miles and 1000 feet vertically, but for takeoffs, anticipated separation can be used.
To clarify, the first aircraft needs to be airborne prior to the second aircraft beginning departure roll. :)
Very good! Practico
