No use giving me the LUAW command. Cleared for takeoff would have worked
On the takeoff clearance for patterns you need to put in the direction.
Cleared to land is not used for touch and go aircraft. I was reporting touch and go because Cleared to land only lets you land.
Cleared for the option let’s you do patterns and land.
I had to go around because the other person got Cleared for takeoff and would have a possible collision. Clear them for takeoff once I’m about to exit the runway, not when I’m on short final.
Every new runway change requires a patterns entry’s, none of which were given.
Clearances were a bit late. Clear people when they are first on downwind.
And also I did not have to change to 17C. 18L would have been fine.
Overall it could be better, but it’s your first session. I encourage you to read the ATC manual and you’ll get to IFATC!
Most ground was good, however unsure why I was given a left on next taxiway when I was already holding short.
LUAW command definitely not necessary, takeoff command would have been fine here.
Upon the takeoff command, a traffic direction needs to be given when remaining in the pattern.
Clearances were somewhat late, however late downwind isn’t the end of the world.
I needed clearance for the option, not to land, option allows the aircraft to do pretty much anything such as go arounds etc.
When I requested a runway change, you need to give a pattern entry such as enter left downwind, even if I am already in the downwind (note: this applies for all inbound traffic changing runways, but not if approach is active).
After being cleared for a runway change, another pattern direction needs to be given, not doing this at an airport like DFW can cause conflict.
After my full stop, I attempted to force a go around for Argentinian 001VA, however a go around was not given even though I had not yet exited the runway.
Apart from that it was good, I’m assuming this is one of your first serious sessions, and would recommend a smaller airport as there is a lot of things to think about here.
Thanks for your feedback I did do a Session at KPSP Palm Springs a few months ago so I still have a lot to learn for sure! Thanks again for coming and Ill tag you and let you know when I get out of my school! and thanks again for coming to my favorite airport of all time @RyMan!
