We need to be able to use the rudder and brakes maybe even throttle while in the “pages” screen. Can’t tell you how many times i enter the runway and turn on my landing lights but my throttle was at 70% so I taxi off the runway and almost get ghosted. And the rudder too, I try to turn and then accidentally go to that page and steer off the runway somehow
Taxi with 70% N1?!
I don’t turn on my lights unless I am stationary or at a good taxi speed and going straight. I stay around 25kts for taxi and throttle 10-20% depending on the airplane
Well, i don’t think you should taxi based on a certain N1, because speed is variable… 20kts is maximum taxi speed at airports IRL, and 35kts is max in IF since pilots get restless lol. I always stay under 20kts
That differs from pilot to pilot i suppose, I have flown countless times in the cockpit on airliners, there the FP always adjusts the speed using the throttle. On the 738, you almost don’t need any thrust when taxiing, just spool up to aprox. 30-40% N1, release the brakes and idle the throttle. I have also flown over 150 hours in a FAA certified B738 simulator, and that backs up my point :)
Aaa yes, now I know what you mean :) Yes you could do that as well!
I’m so lucky to be able to fly with this baby all the time! :)
Where would one find such simulator? (Just curious)
Well, google it, in your country :) Mine is 100 meters away from me and is built by a friend of my mom, so I fly in it all the time :D
