My problem is that the route seems to be not finished and the entry to the strip is not added. I thought maybe I just need to intercept the localizer later, but it turned out not to be so or maybe I don’t understand something
Simbrief does not provide the final approach procedure - only the STAR arrival procedure. The idea is that you would then be given an assigned approach type (ILS, GPS, Visual, etc.) by approach ATC.
It’s up to you what approach procedure you use (unless ATC assigns you a specific approach type) - preferably one that connects well to the end of the STAR. You can choose one by clicking on the airport dot, then the tag that appears. Click on PROC at the bottom → Approach Procedures, and then choose one (they should be organised by runway, there are a few airports that I know where this sorting is a bit messed up).
I mean that the approach to the strip itself, especially if I’m on Casual server
It’s not regarding this topic but today I found out you can cut short departures and arrivals by literally adding the waypoint you intend to next to the flight procedure on there.
If you follow the instructions laid out at the end of my reply above, you can select an approach procedure which allows you to intercept the ILS at a appropriate distance and approach the runway “normally”.
Correct - however you then don’t get the nice green procedure bracket and it can also make it a bit tricky for ATC in the event that SIDs/STARs are recommended/required at an airport being controlled.
If flying into the hub especially, you should keep the full procedure.
Well I was kind of suprised it did actually. Yeah not suitable when there’s restrictions but it does work whenever you want to try. Now this was my first attempt IBUK1B (WMKK) then dct MATPO to IBUKU. Also what do you mean by flying to hub like? during event’s or something?
Could you tell me in which specific airports this is most violated?
Airports where its particularly useful to keep the full arrival procedure is airports like MMMX and EIDW which have what we call “point-merge arcs” - while from a pilot’s perspective it looks inefficient and if you are on your own its worth skipping them, but from an ATC perspective, they are extremely useful for traffic management.
Thanks to know that will remember in future probably. And I don’t usually skip procedures to airports that I’m not confident when flying honestly.
