Rotation issues

Ok guys today I was taking of with the 777? From ksfo
And the run way headwind was -6kts crosswind was 4kts and when rotating the aircraft starts to move away from the run way please what’s the reason

Secondly when rotating why does the aircraft always look like it wants to have a tail strike before lifting off the ground why? Even when at correct rotation speed for example this pictures

Does this have to do with the aircrafts on infinite flight ?

Even a slight crosswind can cause the aircraft to drift off the centreline. Use of aileron and rudder is required to maintain it. See the video below for more:

Based on those photos - you’re nowhere near a tail strike. Trust me you would know if the tail hit the runway. You wouldn’t be able to pitch up any further with the aircraft not lifting off.

Ok thank you please can you show me the cross winds arrows lol how do I know there’s a crosswind

I think you answered your own question :joy:

Where the wind is displayed on the hud - a crosswind is a horizontal arrow in either direction.

The best way to overcome this is to enable your runway heading the moment wheels off the ground and use the one simbrief provides you on the takeoff page.

Do you mean using autopilot?

No way. That will just induce a sharp roll and cause a possible wing strike. The right way to counteract crosswind is with the rudder.

Yes rudders is the right way but not sure how you can manage them when your controlling both the axis and in smartphone. This might be on me though. But once airborne you have to select the heading regardless.

With your thumb…?

Or some other finger if you’re weird

There are few reasons I use max sensitivity for the flaperons and any shift in the axis can become problematic don’t know why. I also love to rely on the a/p so I can control my v/s once airborne and all with my thumb. I find it hard to control the rudder during take-offs and landings honestly and maybe it could be being at the bottom.

Would recommend staying away from max sensitivity as much as possible. Overcorrection is way too easy to do.

I guess that’s fair. Up to preference. However I do think engaging AP during rotation is too early in any case.

I agree that the placement isn’t the easiest possible to work with. Personally I find using rudder fairly easy since I’m used to it. (Friendly reminder that the only way to get used to using rudder is using it! Even though it may be hard at first  )

Yeah I agree but flight controls check is a must for me will switch to low or medium before taxing hopefully I get used to it.

Hello. @Derrick778 hope this solves the problem. The fact of you should only rotate at about 150-170kts. For this I summon @BennyBoy_Alpha to tell me if I said that wrong or if he’d like to add any sidenotes.

Sim Reid sometimes give me VR speed of 140!

So why are the rotation steep ?

That’s probably either your doing or your aircraft isn’t trimmed correctly. On most aircraft you want to aim for 10-15° positive pitch on initial climb. You should be able to maintain this pitch relatively easily if your speed and trim are both good.

I used positive trim of 15! For that particular image I sent but the rotations looks steep please or does it have to do with my phone positioning?

Incorrect. Some light regional jets can rotate at 120kts, while heavy 777s can rotate at 180kts. It all depends on the aircraft and weight. Simbrief is usually pretty accurate on this.

It’s fine. I don’t see anything wrong with it.
