First off i would like to say the controllers did a great job in handling the crazy traffic.
Do you guys in ifatc have a standard ammont if time before we get a violation due to technical issues on my or the pilots end. Or is it a situation based time?
The other is how fast of rate of decent are you expecting when being vector in for a landing?
I did get a level 2 which is okay i accept it 100% as i did send message to @nOthing2seehere and i do agree with it. Not going to appeal it as it was the right move even though tablet froze.
It depends on the situation. If we do see an aircraft entering the runway without permission while another one is landing, for example, that may be a straight report. However, making another example, if an aircraft fails to intercept the runway’s LOC after an ILS clearance, you can be given a re-clearance, Missed Approach and/or various warnings (such as “Please follow instructions”), so more time. That said, we as controllers don’t know if you had issues on your end. It may be possible for us to understand if you have connection issues sometimes (for example, if you constantly appear and disappear from the map), but that’s not a certain thing every time it happens. Certainly, though, if your tablet froze, we can’t be aware of that.
This depends on the situation too. If you’re being vectored while on approach, I’d say anything between - 1,000 and - 1,600 ft/min works. However, this is always based on the situation too. You can descent with a slightly lower rate of descent (i.e. if you’re being told to descend just 1,000ft from your current altitude while still being far from the airport/in a long pattern; of course, these are just examples and it may not always be the case) or a stronger one (i.e. if you are told to “Expedite Altitude Change”).
Thank you for that information. Its very good to know. I dont expect them to know i having technical issues. In thise cases should i just message the controller on IFC to give them a heads up that there is a good chance that i will experience those technical issues.
One of the reasons why i try to avoid ifatc controlled fields if i can help it.
You guy’s must be asking "who are you, what happened to 727Wrench " hehe
You can try to message them, yes, however, I doubt they will respond while they are on an ATC session (especially a busy one), so you will most likely get reported. My advice would be to verify if your device is working properly prior to the start of your flight, and in case it stops working while doing it, try to leave the flight in some way (if possible), or just let things happen, I’m afraid.
Fair enough, i could add checking if the field is controlled as part of my flight planning process, to avoid this. Or divert to my divert field in that situation.
Thanks good sir hope you have a great day and happy flying.
