Reworked Infinite Flight Account Sign Up Process

NORDO in the callsign I believe

You don’t have to put it in the display name
Especially if you are in many organizations you want to represent in your display name like IFAE and FDXVA

Sometimes, people do not even know about IFC, so think of it from that perspective as those people would not be able to change their username…

Just noticed this… why no spaces…? What difference does it make to have or not have spaces. I think my display name now with a space between Captain and JR looks better than having it merged together… just my opinion.

What is the end goal? It sounds like your goal is to make display names unique?

NORDO is not the official procedure for lack of communication. If you cannot communicate (hear or send) you should divert. If you can hear but ATC is not hearing you should follow their instructions and not interfere with others. NORDO has been abused by pilots in the past expecting preferential treatment.

I did not even notice that

My display name is CA BigBert10. I don’t want it to change to CABigBert10. That just looks weird

@GlobalFlyer1 That is actually true. How will they contact a mod to change their username if they are not on the Forum

And mine would be “CaptainJR”… a little tight looking… squished together… :/

Not as good as Captain JR with one space, making some room for it.

I agree with @BigBert10 on this one. Some people already have established names, and putting no spaces in it would look weird.

However, there would a solution to this.

  • Putting dashes in between the words

Obviously, that wouldn’t be the ideal way that someone would want to make their username look like.

CA BigBert10 → CA-BigBert10? Still looks weird

As I said above ^

A dash… no thanks, but a dash is something I’ve tried before, and after 3 days, I got sick of the ugly look of it… ugh. So a dash is not going to solve the problem for me.

Asking a moderator to change your account name here on the IFC is not only on here, any discourse forum is the same. Putting that in the game is just a waste of time… if you want to change for a flight or an event and you you need to ask a moderator first…

Not to mention that they are already occupied with moderating on IFC. They can’t go back and forth all the time to change display names for users

Plus, users that don’t know about IFC or don’t want to join IFC would have to join IFC just to have a display name changed. That is weird and basically an invasion of privacy

yeah as @Captain_JR mentioned dashes make your name not look good i think having underscores make it look good
like i used to be JOSH_STV but now im J2S

True.

Honestly, I think the way we sign in now, is the ideal way someone would want to. It’s already a good process.

Possibly a few more sign in options.

But overall, it’s a good way to sign in rn.

Asking moderators to change your IF name, just adds more hastle for the mods to handle. Changing names and moderating IFC is already enough on their plates to handle.

You see, whether it be IF or IFC or pretty much any other platform out there that asks for a username, I never use underscores_

They look ugly in a username, in my opinion not here to offend anyone, and it would be very weird for me to have to use them

CA_BigBert10? Ugly

Well i respect your opinion but i think its what people decide to put their ifc and if username as but in all seriousness i do respect the usernames around the ifc i mean i dont think underscores and dashes make your name not look good but your opinion is respected by me as i said again

Yes I understand. That’s why I put in spoilers that I am not here to offend anyone. It is just my opinion. But when you can’t space out your name unless you put in underscores, that is a big no no from me and I hope that never gets implemented into IF

Alright alright, his opinion was heard. Let’s move on from arguing about dashes and underscores. 😂
