Retirement of HB-JMO

Today is a sad day for Swiss aviation history: The first SWISS A340-313 with the registration HB-JMO finished its last commercial flight this morning and will be given back to the leasing agency. It’s last flight route was LX179 from Singapore, landing in Zurich at 06:11 on runway 34.

Farewell!

There would be many tears on that flight.

But as HB-JMO is leaving another plane rises out of the ashes like a phoenix: HB-IOO, the first SWISS A321 with Sharklets just arrived from Berlin, where it got its cabin fitted, a couple of minutes ago and will commence its commercial service tomorrow as LX1830 to Athen.

But how? I set up an alarm to see it land in ZRH :(

Edit: I picked up a signal from SXF about 30min ago. That was indeed -IOO. This means the ferry flight has yet to happen.

… Adios 👋🏼

Shame, I have always liked the 340’s in the swiss livery. I hate it when 340’s get retired I really like them in the CX livery and in fact all of them
