Restrict Gates to Specific Aircraft

Alright, long story short, it’s more difficult to do this. They would have to go to every airport, and make sure that GA aircraft or smaller aircraft couldn’t fit into bigger gates.

It’s pretty unrealistic to see this happening at the moment, considering what the community already wants as priority. Just be glad that A380s aren’t parking in GA gates anymore. 😂

What I meant was that you should prioritize this if it is possible in WED to do it, maybe then as the devs of WED to add this feature in that application

It actually goes off class of aircraft when implementing. Hence why some people aren’t able to spawn in the correct aircraft at smaller airports because of the class that is wrong in the airport file. These airports are the ones that need to be reworked.
They didn’t measure the width of gate for every single airport in game. If they did, we wouldn’t have seen this update come out so soon.

For one, there are over 17,000 commercial airports in the world.
Secondly, WED isn’t a program made by IF. It is made for xplane and the files are compatible with IF.
IF could reach out to them to get it implemented but it will most likely not happen since it is made for xplane.

i do understand that this is very hard to put into the game, but remember this is only a request, also I will thank the airport editors for the fantastic work they are doing

Contrary to what a lot of people are saying this is possible with the current system of editing airports. Each gate has an ‘Equipment Type’ selection, allowing the airport editor to select if a gate accepts the following types of aircraft:

  • Fighters
  • Props
  • Turboprops
  • Jets
  • Heavy Jets

Multiple of these can be selected, and so the aircraft in the game could be categorised by these factors, and then only the selected categories of planes would be able to spawn there.

The gate problem is that everything is from the outside in. Example you know you are in the wrong gate the I.F tells you.
Now he tries instead to land and finds the gate at an airport too big at night.

This was a point og view this feature doesn’t cover, this is when you spawn

I was going to make a similar request, however I found this, so perhaps it’s worth giving this a massive bump instead.

Here’s my idea: rather than outright prohibiting an A320 from spawning on a widebody gate, gates larger than the aircraft would be displayed with an orange dot, meaning that you probably shouldn’t spawn or park in that gate, while still retaining the ability to do so if you still wish to proceed. Perhaps a warning screen could pop up just to confirm (such as when there are active NOTAMs) if you’re trying to spawn in said gate.

Alternatively, the orange dots could be displayed only when the stand guidance would say “too small”, as well as the spawn warning (I tested an A380 gate with a 737, and it said OK, but a C208 was deemed too small).
