Yesterday, on October 1st 2026, the Brazilian aircraft mechanic and youtuber Lito Souza, creator of the popular aviation channel Aviões e Musicas passed away due to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD).
Lito had a unique way of teaching and inspiring people to know more about aviation. He was a pioneer in aviation content creation in Brazil and made countless people lose their fear of flying fall in love with aviation.
I personally grew up watching his videos and I loved his content a lot, he definitely made my passion for aviation grow even more from where I started watching him. His legacy will continue to inspire many people and will never be forgotten.
He was not only a guy who taught me so much about aviation, but also alot of my Portugues, having moved to Brazil without knowing more than “Obrigado”, and “Tchau”. Watching his videos vastly improved my vocabulary. I can now speak Portugues rather decently (Just mess up on the verbs every now and then). I couldn’t believe the news that he had passed away, he seemed like someone who would live forever. And his passing is for sure the saddest I’ve felt for a stranger (sad that I’ll never get to meet him). Rest in Peace Lito, I pray you have grown wings yourself, and joined Jesus Christ, and the almighty Father, with the saints. I also pray that God gives Mila the strength to keep on going through the hardest times of her life. And lastly, may his poor son grow up knowing what a great man his father was.
